As to emulate a project I would assign my own students in a Music Theory or Music Technology Class, I recreated Carly Rae Jepsen's iconic anthem "Call Me Maybe" in a Jazz/Bossa Nova style, inspired by the style of up-and-coming Singer/Songwriter, Laufey! To put this project together, I arranged, edited, and performed every element of the orchestration/instrumentation on my mini MIDI keyboard, and used a cardioid microphone to record countless takes of my singing. I recorded lead vocals and devised harmonies for my background vocals, which I then edited using EQ, compression, and reverb plug-ins. I also included a plug-in that gave a lo-fi record crackle effect to the entire track, as to emulate the classic jazz recordings of the 50's, as well as modern lo-fi music. All of this was done in Pro Tools!
