The Basics of Interval Identification and Construction - Written, Visual, Kinesthetic and Aural modes of instruction
I wrote this lesson plan for the beginning music theory class at Robert Morgan Education Center in Cutler Bay, FL. My students seemed to need a reminder of the foundations of intervals as they embarked further into ear training and introductory lessons regarding chord progressions. I wanted to incorporate Message Abundancy into my lesson, both by presenting the content in several different fashions, and allowing students to make meaning and express understanding in several different ways. Students learned about intervals in the context of written language, image and musical notation, playing the piano, and singing/listening.

Chromatic Scales and Enharmonic Equivalents - The Basics
I wrote this lesson plan for the beginning music theory class at Robert Morgan Education Center in Cutler Bay, FL. Following the units of the Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory workbook, I taught the basics regarding the rules of spelling and constructing chromatic scales. This segued into a conversion regarding enharmonic equivalents, using ascending and descending C Chromatic scales as mirror images which students could examine and draw connections across in order to begin learning about enharmonics.
