Call Me Laufey (Call Me Maybe Cover)

As to emulate a project I would assign my own students in a Music Theory or Music Technology Class, I recreated Carly Rae Jepsen's iconic anthem "Call Me Maybe" in a Jazz/Bossa Nova style, inspired by the style of up-and-coming Singer/Songwriter, Laufey! To put this project together, I arranged, edited, and performed every element of the orchestration/instrumentation on my mini MIDI keyboard, and used a cardioid microphone to record countless takes of my singing. I recorded lead vocals and devised harmonies for my background vocals, which I then edited using EQ, compression, and reverb plug-ins. I also included a plug-in that gave a lo-fi record crackle effect to the entire track, as to emulate the classic jazz recordings of the 50's, as well as modern lo-fi music. All of this was done in Pro Tools!

Video Game Concept- Twist on Starting Over Main Theme: Quirky Dialogue

Building off of the leitmotif from the original Starting Over theme, this re-orchestration (written using Musescore) uses pizzicato strings to convey a more quirky, whimsical vibe; perhaps to be used for a dialogue scene with a spunky character!

Video Game Concept- Main Theme: Starting Over

I've always been intrigued by the way in which video games utilize music to their thematic, emotional, and at times, even their game-mechanic-enhancing advantage. I would honestly consider the music from the video games of my early childhood to be some of the music that has influenced me the most in my life. All of this considered, I wanted to compose a main theme or leitmotif that I could use for a hypothetical game--one that I could experiment with and twist around in terms of harmony and orchestration to evoke different ambiences using the same familiar melody. This orchestral piece, written entirely in Musescore, is the product of this idea!

Best Part (Cover)

Taking a crack at using Pro Tools to produce a song cover using only voice recordings and MIDI instruments was quite daunting at first, but I was driven to give my best effort by just how amazing this Daniel Caesar tune is. To put this project together, I arranged, edited, and performed every element of the orchestration/instrumentation on my keyboard, and used a cardioid microphone to record countless takes of my singing, which I then spliced together and edited using EQ, compression, and reverb plug-ins, all done in Pro Tools!

Disney Pixar's Up Re-scored

During my senior year of high school, I took a music theory class that truly opened up my eyes to all of the possibilities of my musicianship, and sparked my initial love for composition. For our final project, we were asked to take a scene from a movie that we admired and re-score it in Sibelius in alignment with the visual content, record a voice-over for every character (I used a Blue Snowball microphone), and record/produce foley effects for every conceivable event occurring throughout the scene using any and all materials necessary. Although this project is humorous in nature, this original orchestral score was quite a labor of love that I took very seriously, and ironically is still one of my favorite original compositions of mine to date!
